Summer Info

Summer Info

This summer I want you to MAKE ART, THINK ABOUT ART and LOOK AT ART

Simple as that.

Just prepare yourself for a year of intensive art making (you CAN do it!) by keeping it up over the summer and advancing the ways you think about and interact with art.

Your list of To-Dos (or Don't; your choice):

Elements & Principles Sketchbook Pages
AP focuses on how artists use the PRINCIPLES of DESIGN. You need the Elements to make them.  Try to create work in your sketchbook that uses each of these principles  independently or combined while using the elements (not just pages about Color).

Focus on them while you make the art.  You should be able to see the Principle in the work, not just the E.
Elements > LINE           SHAPE            VALUE           SPACE          TEXTURE              COLOR

THINK ABOUT ART
Learn and Love the Elements and Principles of Art.

Recommended Books:

Read through excerpts from some of these books if you can. Many can be found at the library. Write your reactions to what you read in your sketchbook.

LOOK AT ART
Try to attend at least TWO Museums, Art Fair/Festivals or Galleries.
Write about the experience in your sketchbook. Include the date, time, place and a short paragraph recording your reaction to what you witnessed. You may want to include promotional materials you picked up, photographs of what you saw or sketches/ doodles of what you experienced.
